PLANNING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
We hope every Decker Professional Driver had a great Thanksgiving holiday, and if you were out on the road last Thursday, we appreciate your dedication and hard work. We are looking at three robust weeks of freight volumes before the Christmas holiday. We strongly encourage that you schedule any time off requests as early as possible with your Fleet Manager. There are 3 major reasons we ask for this information:
- We want to do right by YOU, so communicate your home-time expectations. This will help allow us to book directional freight to get you routed home.
- We want to do right by our CUSTOMERS. By understanding our working percentage of Drivers, we can better meet the shipping needs of our loyal customers.
We want momentum going into 2021. Your ability to help us schedule freight volumes accurately during the holidays will have a huge effect on 2021. Carriers that best service the customers in the holiday weeks always come out with the top lanes in the first quarter.
In short, please communicate upfront to us your plans so that we can book the freight volumes that support You and DTL. Thank you!
AN EXTRA THANK YOU
As in the past, Decker will pay you an extra $100 for the following holidays if you are out on the road/under a load – Christmas Day and/or New Year’s Day.
PLEASE KNOW WHERE YOUR ELD MANUAL IS AT ALL TIMES
In the last week, Law Enforcement issued DOT inspections with violations to three DTL Drivers for not being able to locate and provide their ELD Manual to the officer. For those Drivers who currently have the Omnitracs IVG System in their truck, the ELD Manual labeled, “OMNITRACS HOS DOT ELD DRIVER CAB CARD”, can be found in the back of the permit book. For those Drivers operating a truck equipped with the new Geotab/Transflo System, the ELD Manual labeled, “Transflo Telematics”, can be found in one of the pockets of the permit book (usually in the front of the permit book). Please be sure to check your permit book for the appropriate in-cab card. If you do not have one, please let your Fleet Manager know so a temporary copy can be provided until you can get to a terminal for a hard copy. Thank you.
