DECKER DES MOINES SHOP IS NOW OPEN
5325 NE 14TH Street, Des Moines, IA 50313
Current Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm

We are excited to report that Rod Simon and his Maintenance Team have started servicing our Decker equipment out of the new Des Moines Maintenance Facility. The plan is to start slow, but as we continue to increase our number of technicians, we will add more services in the upcoming weeks.

In the meantime, please welcome our new Service Manager, Josh Medina and Service Writer, Brenda Hedeen. (Welcome back to Decker Brenda!)

This facility has a very large Drivers’ area with tables and chairs, TV’s and vending machines as well as a smaller area upstairs with recliners for those who would like some quiet time while waiting for your truck. These lounge areas are open to all Decker Drivers per the shop hours at this time. They will be open 24 hours/7 days a week in the near future.

And, starting Monday, 4/19/21, we will be using this new location for our only drop lot in the Des Moines area. We will no longer use the MHC Kenworth lot or the Midstates Utility location for a drop lot. All drops will be moved to our new location. Parking spots are marked, and we have signs, so you know where to drop your trailers. Please drop in the correct location and do your part to help to keep this new facility clean.

MINIMUM GUARANTEED PAY:

As there seems to be some confusion on how our $1,000 Minimum Guaranteed Pay works – for you Drivers who are on this pay plan – we would like to provide you with the following information:
❖ The $1,000 a week Minimum Guaranteed Pay is $1,000 gross – not take-home pay.
❖ Also, remember that Decker pays per diem so on your settlement each week, you will see a combination of your taxable income and your non-taxable/per diem pay.
We hope this clarifies any confusion you may have on this. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Darin Ladlie at Ext. 2448 or Jason Sorlien at Ext. 6550.

DRIVER SUPPORT TEAMS – APPRECIATION WEEK:

Thank you so much to our Recruiting Department and Driver Training & Orientation Department for your dedication to our Professional Drivers and for all the hard work you do for them.
Your enthusiasm and effort have not gone unnoticed. Seeing all the comments and praises from our Drivers and co-workers about our Recruiting and Driver Training & Orientation Teams has been fun and uplifting. If you haven’t had the chance, please look for our social media posts showcasing these fantastic Teams – what a great way to get to know these individuals!
Thank you everyone, for helping us celebrate these deserving departments. We look forward to the next Driver Support Team Appreciation Week scheduled for the second week in June.

ROAD CHECK 2021:

Every year CVSA and their enforcement partners conduct a roadside inspection blitz for three days in the spring. This year Road Check is May 5, 6 and 7. This is a little more than two weeks away. This year the emphasis will be on Lights and Hours of Service. To successfully navigate an inspection this year, make sure all of your lights are working. Know where your 8 blank log pages are and where your ELD Instruction Guide can be located and don’t use Personal Conveyance improperly. Those are our most frequent HOS violations. Road Check will be another opportunity to prove that We are “Driven to be the Best”. And, be sure to let us know about your violation-free inspections to collect your $50.00 “Violation-free Inspection” Bonus!

HOW TO GET YOUR COVID VACCINE IF YOU ARE OUT ON THE ROAD:

If you are on the road or at home, you can go to vaccinefinder.org or walmart.com to search for pharmacies in your area who are distributing the vaccines. Both sites have interactive maps showing locations and availability. These sites are said to be updated daily, however due to extremely high demand for the vaccinations, the information definitely isn’t up-to-the minute and it’s very possible it might show as available when in fact they’ve run out for the day. Therefore, it’s a good idea to call ahead to the pharmacy to confirm – the sites do provide phone numbers. The convenience of getting a shot at a Walmart or Walgreens is that you don’t have to go back to the store you got your first shot. They will have your record in their system, and you can then go to any Walmart or Walgreens, depending on where you are 3 weeks after your first shot. Please plan ahead and communicate with your Fleet Manager so he or she can help to get you to a location for your second dose.

The sooner we all get vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to “normal”. If you have any questions, or are having trouble finding a vaccination location, contact HR at Ext. 2315.

Stay Safe, And . . . . . “Driven To Be The Best”
