Closing of the Missoula, Montana Terminal

Re:  Closing of the Missoula, Montana Terminal

Dear Team,

After a thorough review of our operations and freight network, we have made the decision to close our terminal in Missoula, Montana effective January 14th. This decision was not made lightly, but it is necessary due to the changing freight network patterns and the associated costs of operating a full terminal that is not being utilized sufficiently.

We have some fantastic team members who have made significant contributions to our company at this location. We hope to work with all of them to explore relocation options so that they can continue to be valued members of our team.

Missoula’s terminal location has become more and more evident to be out of efficient route for much of our network now that it is growing in other areas, resulting in increased costs and inefficiencies when we route trucks through there to utilize the terminal. Additionally, our freight network no longer supports the level of activity required to sustain maintenance and operations at this terminal.

As our business continues to grow, our focus will shift more towards core regions. This strategy aims to enhance density in our well-established areas. However, we will continue to require drivers residing in the Montana area, but we no longer consider it a strategic advantage for having a terminal in Missoula along with the associated overhead costs. Closing this location aligns with our strategic goals, laying the foundation for the company’s future success.

Our analysis of this terminal clearly indicated that it is the right business decision to end our presence there. A lower volume of work orders compared to other locations, coupled with the unnecessary costs incurred in routing through it to handle work orders that weren’t essential in most cases, resulted in costs that don’t justify its benefit to our company.

Although this location no longer offers sufficient value to warrant a terminal, expansion in other regions may prompt new investments in areas that do provide clear benefit to our network.

We understand that this change might be inconvenient for a small group of Drivers, but we want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to make this transition as smooth as possible. We will reach out to you soon to assist in navigating any changes or concerns you may have.

As we proceed with this transition, we are committed to supporting everyone through this change.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to execute the evolving strategy of growing our business even better for the future.
