COVID-19 UPDATE:
Although we’re all very tired of all things Covid, with the recent spike in cases and with flu season upon us, we feel it’s important to remind everyone of things we need to be doing to help limit the spread of both Covid and the flu.  Wearing our masks and social distancing have become our new way of life and have become habits already for most of us, however it seems we still struggle with staying home when we’re sick and that’s probably going to be the biggest factor in preventing the spread of illness whether it’s cold, flu or Covid.
We understand that it’s tough to know when to stay home especially when many of the symptoms for the flu and Covid are similar – if you have 2 or more of the following symptoms and are unsure whether you should come to work, call HR for guidance.  If you live in or around Fort Dodge, you can call Community Health Center at 515-576-6500 to schedule a rapid Covid test which give you your results in 15 to 20 mins.

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle pain/body aches
  • Fatigue/tiredness
  • Headache

One other thing we can all do is remember to stay safe and diligent in our personal lives as well – consider limiting social activities and avoid congregating with large groups of people– this is especially important as the cold weather forces us indoors and as the holidays get closer.  Thanksgiving and Christmas will probably look very different for most of us this year and will ideally consist of small gatherings of immediate family.   Of course, we can’t tell you what to do in your personal time, nor do we want to, but we DO want to encourage everyone to commit to maintaining a safe workplace for all.

WINTER WEATHER IS HERE – MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE PREPARED:
HOW TO CHAIN YOUR TRUCK TIRES:
The Chain Law went into effect in Colorado in September and, this will be more prevalent as we head into the winter months.  Please prepare accordingly.  For a detailed instructional video on how to chain your truck tires, go to the Decker Transflo app and click on:  Company Videos è Maintenance Videos è Chaining Up – How to Chain
Or you can click on this YouTube link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVSm3iathXQ&t=1s

FUEL ADDITIVES:
FUEL ADDITIVES:  Please make sure you have treated your fuel to avoid unnecessary delays.  Depending on where fuel is purchased can affect when it will start to gel. Fuel purchased in FL will gel up quicker than fuel purchased in MN at the same time.  Untreated fuel can start to cloud up and gel at any temperatures below freezing (32 degrees).
There are several anti-gel additives available at truck stops. The additives that we provide in our Decker Shops are Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement Cetane Boot and Penray Winter Pow-R Plus Diesel Anti-Gel.  Note the Penray product does 250 gallons and the Power Service does 100 gallons.   You need to read the instructions on whatever product is purchased so as to not undertreat or overtreat.
DID YOU KNOW THAT THE AVERAGE COST INCURRED WHEN A TRUCK GELS UP IS $1,475?  PLEASE DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR CONTROL TO HELP US AVOID THESE UNNECESSARY EXPENSES.

Stay Safe, And . . . . . “Driven To Be The Best”
